Hey everyone, after much deliberation, I will be raising prices for paid subs on July 1st, 2024.
Current Pricing:
Monthly: $10 CAD per month (~7.50 USD)
Annual: $100 CAD per year (~75 USD)
New Pricing:
Monthly: $20 CAD per month (~15 USD)
Annual: $200 CAD per year (~150 USD)
Important:
Current paid subs will be able to enjoy the current pricing until May 1st, 2025.
To clarify, if you are currently paying $10 CAD/month, you will be paying $10 CAD until May 1st, 2025.
From now until June 30th, 2024, if you sign up for the annual subscription, you will only pay $100/CAD for annual subscription. New price hikes will not affect you until after May 1st, 2025.
Paid subs that locked in the even lower former pricing, your pricing will remain unchanged until May 1st, 2025. This is to show my appreciation to paid subs who believed in me from the very start.
*I may change my mind and grandfather you guys for longer or forever, but I want to give myself some wiggle room just in case I change my mind. Psychologically, if I promise to grandfather you guys and change my mind after that, that may lead to a negative response and a sense of betrayal.
**If there are any technical difficulties or changes in policy on Substack’s end that result in prices not being grandfathered for whatever reason, I will not be held liable.
***If you are currently paid and choose to cancel and come back after July 1st then you won’t be able to get back your former rate. The new rate post July 1st will apply to your account.
****I reserve the right to change my mind on this price increase at any time. I may extend or shorten the deadline(s); and/or change the pricing.
This pricing increase will mainly affect new subscribers after July 1st, 2024.
For current free subs that see value in the stock pitches or content I provide, you have until June 30th to lock in the current pricing. Once you lock in the current pricing, it will be good until May 1st, 2025 as well.
Reason for the price increase:
If you compare my pricing at each stage of my growth, it has been below market
RIP to Charlie Munger. In terms of investment newsletter pricing, value is hard to fake. So if I make my price ridiculously high, it does not imply the superiority of my product. I believe you guys are smart enough to see that. Those who overcharge will get their subscriptions cancelled.
My goal has and always will be to provide more value than I receive.
Back in 2023, I first started with a free account. When it was $0, subscribers did not share my work or even attempt to refer their friends or colleagues.
So I raised it to a measly $5/month. This created an opportunity-cost trade-off and incentivized sharing/referrals.
As I gained even more traction and members, I raised the monthly fee to $10/month. After this increase, the amount of sharing increased even further. Somehow, the higher the opportunity cost, the more shares/referrals I get. Isn’t that interesting.
I have set the price below market because I am prioritizing growth in followers over short-term monetary gain. My quality of work rivals that of larger Substacks that charge more.
Even now, if I compare my quality of work and my track record, I could easily be charging $25-35 USD/month.
What differentiates my Substack from others:
1: My track record has been stellar.
My win rate is 5/6 or 83%. If you blindly bought equal positions in all my stock pitches, you’d be up 25% (non-annualized) and outperforming a 10% annual absolute return benchmark.
Haier 690D: +50% (incl. div) (8 month return, open)
Round1: +10% (4 month return, open)
SK Japan: +20% (3 month return, open)
Okano Valve Manufacturing: +35% (3 month return, closed)
GAN: +80% (1 week return, closed)
CNTY: -50% (9 month return, closed)
*Prices as of May 8, 2024 for open positions
**This is not a guarantee of performance. Past performance does not indicate future performance. DYODD. Not investment advice.
Based on my current monthly paid membership pricing, for anyone managing a portfolio of more than $480 (120/0.25), my annual subscription would have paid for itself.
Essentially, if your average starter position is around $500 and you bought a starter position in every stock I pitched, you’d be able to pay for 6x my annual subscription rate.
Hence, I am also increasing my pricing because I know what I’m worth. My public track record and posts are out for everyone to scrutinize.
To keep expectations at bay, in all likelihood, it is unlikely that an 80% long-term win rate is sustainable. I will likely mean revert. I will be happy if I attain a win rate of 60-80% long-term.
I know a subscriber who put $30k on Haier 690D and is now 15k richer. If he sells his principal and just leaves his 15k profit as a position and lets it collect dividends, he’ll be able to afford my paid sub for life.
2: I am the only Substacker that I know of that shares his entire full financial model with subs (this will only be available to Paid Subs from this point on, if the stock pitch requires it).
Most Substackers that aren’t professionally trained won’t be able to create a model of my quality.
3: I provide full breakdowns of the business economics as they pertain to each business, so subscribers will at least be able to learn something new if they don’t invest in my idea.
All-in-all, I believe my pricing is very fair. The price increase is simply a reflection of the increased value I provide.

Last remarks:
I want to thank all my subscribers for their continuous support. I now have 1.2k followers on Substack and 473 followers on Twitter/X.
This summer, I will be adding considerable video content so look forward to my YouTube.
Please keep sharing and referring my Substack to your friends or colleagues.
For free subs, don’t worry; I will continue to make it easy to earn monthly paid subs for free with promos.
I intend to always provide way more value than I get in return.
