Hey Continuous Compounders,
I appreciate your dedication to reading my Substack.
From now until the end of December, I want to put my focus on improving my YouTube.
So far I’ve made the following videos:
Top 5 Tools to Read Japanese Filings
AGF.B Minute Stock Pitch (60 sec Short)
AGF.B Minute Stock Pitch (90 sec short)
Here is what I will be working on from now until the end of December:
-More “minute stock pitch” shorts
-A long-form stock pitch
-A mini feature film/travel vlog on my trip to the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting in 2023. The last BRK meeting where Buffett and Munger were both in attendance.
-In the comment section below, if you have any video ideas you’d like to see from me, please make a request!
I’ve analyzed the Continuous Compounding business model, and what I’ve focused on the most is the technical aspect of the business, which is the stock research process. Of course, as a value investor passionate about stock picking, this is the part I find the most enjoyable.
The no. 1 weakness in my business model is the distribution. My following is still small. I really don’t enjoy marketing myself, but I am aware that distribution is as important, if not more important, than the research I put out.
To improve on the distribution aspect, I believe I could improve on marketing myself on Twitter and YouTube.
Twitter:
What makes Twitter so hard for me is that I really don’t enjoy posting unless I have something substantial to share. This is the exact reason why my following on X is so small. In the beginning I didn’t even use X, and I regret not creating an account sooner. A lot of accounts grow their following by sh*tposting. The truth of the matter is don’t hate the player, hate the game. I see myself having to submit to the evils of the algorithm, and I ask you to forgive me when I do.
I’ve been getting some good results with idea-gen stock pitch posts on X, so I will continue doing this. If you have any suggestions, please DM me or comment below.
YouTube:
Next is YouTube, the market for quality video stock pitches on YouTube is still small and largely untapped. There are a few ppl who have decent stock pitch channels, but their weakness is making their content entertaining.
The million-dollar question on YouTube for any equity research is how to make it entertaining and interesting in video format. I think this is no easy task and will be something I will be attempting to tackle.
The dominant forms of equity research are in text format or audio format (podcasts). There are a few channels that do a good job on stock pitches, but I believe they cater to the layman mostly and mainly discuss qualitative factors.
Video content that is catered towards professionals can’t get views because it is either too complex or too boring for the layman. How many pros can the algo pitch your video to? Professionals also have too short of an attention span to be able to sit down and watch a video.
Is the only option really to create a dividend investing channel on YouTube? The reason this works so well on YouTube is because the quantitative analysis part doesn’t go past calculating the dividend yield and then proceeding to talk about qualitative factors that most layman can understand or act like they understand.
How then can I create a video that is both entertaining to both layman and professionals? This is the million-dollar question that I believe no one has cracked in terms of stock pitches but has been cracked in a mainstream movie called “The Big Short.”
Professionals are very forgiving when they cut to a scene explaining finance concepts to layman when you get to see Margot Robbie in a bubble bath.
I don’t expect this to be easy, and I expect myself to fail a lot. Hopefully, I have your support in this pursuit.
As a self-aware individual, I don’t do well with multitasking. I’m much better when I focus on improving 1 thing and let that be all I focus on.
Hence, I appreciate the continued support I have received from my paid subs, but I would be doing you a disservice if I continued charging you when I’m not releasing any research.
I will "pause" payments until I release new stock analysis, which should be until the end of Dec.
All this means is if you are a paid sub, you will not be charged.
If you paid for an annual paid sub, this simply means your expiry date of your annual sub gets extended by the duration of my pause.
If you are overcharged for any reason, feel free to DM me, and I will make it right by gifting you monthly paid subs when I resume billing again.
My goal with Continuous Compounding is always to provide way more value than I receive.
Best,
Continuous Compounding - Alan

I havent looked extensively into the Youtube financebro sector, but maybe "Japan" investing in a niche that isnt taken by 1000 other creators yet. Im pretty sure the "dividend" investors is oversatured, by a lot.
